A List:
Reading signs in the little hairs at the bottom of the sink;
Losing track of mosquito bites until incident brushes over them, and then the bites are all that matter;
Barely missing the bus and deciding what comes next;
A stranger having a good night, music gushing and way too many people in the back seat;
Swimming shirtless in green-smelling water;
Weighing words;
Not knowing for sure what a first meal at 4 pm does to the body;
Someone saying exactly how they’ve been hurt;
The knowledge that hands are the best things to massage other hands;
Stringing bits and pieces together;
The noble intentions behind books bought and put on shelves and never opened;
(Hesitantly) wearing something new and (mercifully) no one commenting on it;
A sink that is never empty of dishes, and never wants to be;
An unexpected clearing;
Making room for someone else to sit down;
Someone else making room for you to sit down.
